August has ended, and it honestly turned out to be an extremely busy and stressful month. I won’t go into detail, but I hope the rest of the year is better. Sometimes life hits you with so many things at once, but you have to keep going. I found working on the site here and there to be quite distracting in a positive way, and hope you enjoy the additions.
I tried to focus on older collaborations for the Merchandise Museum, so you’ll see several items from HIROMAN’S COFFEE and UNICO x unico. As these items are far from available, I wanted to be sure and share what these products looked like before images and information disappear from the internet.
For my birthday, I picked up a handful of Unico items here and there that I’ll add or share on the site later. This includes animation cels, some books, and more. Even picked up a few non-Unico items like older issues of Archie’s Sonic the Hedgehog comic. As a kid, one of my favorite things to do was go to the comic or grocery store every month to get comics. Sometimes they would already be out of that month’s issue, so I missed out on reading it. Now I’m just going back to get the individual ones I’m missing.
But anyway, check out the site updates below!
International:
– Updated the Persian language version with more information about the latest dub. There are now video clips from IrMo’s Instagram and a list of voice actors. I’m hoping I spelled everyone’s name correctly! While I could only confirm Unico, Akuma, and Chao’s voice actresses, I’ll try to learn who the other voice actors played. Also added the voice actress who played Unico in the 90s dub.
Unico: Awakening Publications:
– Added separated pages for the English versions in the Unico: Awakening Publications page. I figured this would make it easier to organize all the different information. The UK version was released on August 1 with many other Scholastic titles, while the others were August 6. I’ve also included links on where to buy from those countries and the prices based on information found online.
– Updated the title of the second volume of Unico: Awakening to Unico: Hunted on the English page, which will be the title of that book. It’ll be based on the “Black Cloud and White Feather” chapter, where Unico must help a young girl in a polluted city. They revealed this information at San Diego Comic Con.
– Added the Norwegian translation of Unico: Awakening to the list.
Unico (2024):
– Now that Unico: Awakening is out, and is going to be a series with each book having its own title, I’ve been rearranging menus and links around the site. On the menu, go to Information, then Manga. There you will notice Unico Manga (2024) which will be the main page for the new series by Samuel Sattin and Gurihiru. Interviews, news, and publication information will be linked at the bottom of the page for those looking for more information. When other volumes of the series are published, I will make additional updates to the pages.
– Added the keychains that were available during HIROMAN’S COFFEE Unico Cafe event.
– Added HIROMAN’S COFFEE Unico Cafe Die-cut Stickers to the Sticker page.
– Added the babouche slippers from the UNICO x unico collaboration to the Unico Related Shoes section.
– Added the UNICO x unico Chair Pad and Entrance Mat to the household items.
– Finally created the page for bedroom related merchandise. This will have all the blankets, sheets, pillows, etc. Several items are from the Unico x unico collaboration, but I’ll continue adding more.
– Added the 2019 Osamu Tezuka Shop and Cafe Atom do Honpo keychain and Unico: Awakening Retail Kit and Freebies to the Omake section.
– Added the 80s Sanrio Unico Stamp Pad in the Unico Pencils, Pens, Stamps section.
