Site Updates: February 2025

Did you have a wonderful February?

I was a little busier, so I apologize for the lack of updates. Since it’s still the beginning of the year, everyone in my household has their yearly checkups, dental visits, and whatever else. That keeps me running around for sure. I’m also trying to get an early start on spring cleaning, so my oldest daughter and I have been going through old boxes and getting rid of things. It doesn’t take long to accumulate a lot of junk over the years. Other than those lovely chores, I tried something new and made a handful of Unico related Valentines this month. Not sure if people like crafts, but I’ve debated making other goodies, too.

On site related news, I had to pause on the Character pages but still added more figures and other merchandise. I think I’m almost caught up on all the figures. There are ceramic figurines that were made in the 80s, but I feel they’d be better in the decoration section. I have a handful of items headed this way from Japan that I’m excited to add to the site, so hopefully I’ll get to do that in March. Trying to get back into writing informative and fun posts, but I’m slow. Maybe March will be the magical month I can do more? Fingers crossed!

– Added the Replicorns to the Character pages. Have more pages prepped, just need to edit and add images.

– Added a 2023 Unico appearance in Tahi Saihate’s literary magazine titled Subaru, where she discusses how love is depicted in the Unico manga. There is also a Unico related poem.

– Updated the Chinese Language page with more information on the manga that was released in 1997. There was only a photo of the books before, but now each volume is separate and has its ISBN and original price. These books are pretty rare and expensive, but they’re still on my “book wish list.”

– Minor grammatical and other things fixed around the site. I’m sure there are more, but I tend to stumble on things when making other updates.

– Added a “Subscribe” button to the bottom of the site (shows for desktop at least) and on the bottom of posts. This is for those who want to know when I add a new post to the site regardless if they’re subscribed to the Newsletter or not. It is through WordPress, so anyone can subscribe and it’ll notify you the moment a new post appears. I’ll still send out my personal monthly newsletters if you’re subscribed to those, but I wanted everyone to have the option for how they’d like to keep up on posts to the site. I know some news is time sensitive, especially for Unico related merchandise, so getting those types of posts out to you feels important.

– At the bottom of all posts, you’ll notice a “Like” button now. No, you’re not obligated to hit it, but I figured if people wanted to, then please do! It’ll let me know what type of content readers enjoy.

– The comment section of posts now allows you to log in as your WordPress or Facebook account. I’m not even sure if this is necessary. I’m just trying it out and playing with site settings.

– Added the Tezuka Moderno Figures page to the Figure section.

– Added the Tezuka Osamu World Bottle Cap figure to the Figure section.

– Added the Tezuka Osamu Mini Doll Figures page to the Figure section.

– Added the Tezuka Osamu Mini Vignette Anthology Figure page to the Figure section.

– Added new photo of the Unico stamp pads. Also learned the original price for them so that was added as well.

– Added Tezuka Moderno Modern Pet Sweets candy to the Unico Related Food page. It’ll be after the Hiroman’s Coffee items.

– Also added the 2016 Havaro Unico Jelly dessert to the Unico Related Food page. I wish I could have tried this. It looked delicious.

– Added the 2024 Unico: Awakening Cotton Candy by Fluffy Algodon Cotton Candy Art. You’ll find more information in the Unico Related Food page as well. Also wish I could have tried this, as I think it’s hilarious to nom on poor Unico’s head.

– The latest 2025 Denboku Unico figure was sold at Wonder Festival this month, so I’ve added it to the Denboku Figures page.
