What a crazy month!
The heat made it difficult to do anything during the day, but I squeezed in a few updates to the site! My Unico Fans also had its third anniversary on July 16, but I completely forgot until the last minute. Oops! That’s okay though. Here’s a quick gif to celebrate:
If you backed the Unico: Awakening Kickstarter, were you able to read it yet? What did you think? I’m excited to see the Scholastic/Graphix version as well, and will definitely talk about that next month. There is an Early Release Event with Samuel Sattin on August 4 at the Kinokuniya in San Francisco. If you’re in the area and able to go, please do so and show your support. Bring your family to meet the author, get your book signed, and hopefully win some giveaways! Sounds fun to me! You can learn more on Kinokuniya’s event page.
Speaking of next month, August is my birth month and the kids are starting the new school year. If I have fewer updates on the site, that will be why. I’ll be saying farewell to my 30s and entering the land of the quadragenarians. To some, I’m still young. But to others, I’m old. In fact, my kids tell me I’m an old lady often. (Laughs.)

- Unico: Awakening Related:
- – Added the Unico: Awakening (Kickstarter Version) to the Unico: Awakening Publications page. Right now, it has basic information, but I’ll update it with more soon, especially after the Scholastic version is out.
- – The release date for Unico: Awakening Volume 2 has been added to both English and Dutch publication pages. I’m assuming many other countries will have similar dates, but I’ll update those when information is available.
- – Created a separate page for Samuel Sattin and Unico: Awakening related interviews and added a handful of interview links as well. Since we’re closer to the release of Unico: Awakening next month, there have been plenty of new qualitative research (Laughs.). If I’ve missed any, please reach out and let me know. I enjoy spreading the love and hope it helps.
- – There are also more links to news related articles that can be found on the Unico: Awakening News page.
- – Added more ways to purchase the French version of Unico: Awakening. Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble now have it up.
- Unico Soundtracks:
- – Added the music video for Wednesday Campanella’s section and created a track list table.
- – Added translations to the track list and links to the Unico songs for the Contactoons 6 – Santo Verduci album. The link for the full album on YouTube Music is also available on the page.
- Character Profiles:
- – Added another appearance in Unico’s Character Profile. While Unico shows up often in the Black Jack tv series (2004 – 2006 series), it’s nice to point out specific episodes. Shout out to Van for helping me figure out what episode it was!
- Unico Related Food:
- – Added a few more items to the Unico Related Food page. I’ve been wanting to add to this page for a while because I think there are a lot of neat food collabs they’ve had over the years. You’ll find the HIROMAN’S COFFEE, Plant-based Food collab and the Valentine’s chocolates. I’m curious what the plant-based items would have tasted like. Yangnyeom soy chicken and rice sounds so good. I got the Valentine’s chocolates and thought they were pretty good.
- Unico Soundtracks:
- – Added the wyse / DRAWING Maxi Single to the Soundtracks page.
- Other Unico Publications:
- – Added the Akio Sugino Complete Works Drawings page, which is one of the few books published that features character designs for the first Unico film. The art book is pretty rare these days.
- Unico Figures:
- – Added the REDSHARK Unico Finger Puppet Figure to the Figure section.
- – Added the Jiro Model garage kit of Chao from this year’s Summer Wonder Fest. It comes with both human and cat form for you to assemble and paint.
- Unico Related Decorations:
- – Added the Unico ornament by Sanrio to this section.
